<p>Iftiin FM was officially launched in November 2015 during a colorful ceremony held at a Nairobi hotel, attended by prominent leaders from Kenya's northern region, including National Assembly Majority Leader Adan Duale. The launch was presided over by Information Principal Secretary Joseph Tiampati, who revealed plans to develop a language policy to regulate media in Kenya. As part of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), Iftiin FM joined other vernacular language stations such as Coro FM, Minto FM, Radio Mayenga, and Radio Ingo.</p>
<p>The station represents KBC's commitment to providing quality broadcast content to Kenyans in their first languages. During the launch, KBC Managing Director Waithaka Waihenya affirmed the corporation's dedication to extending the station's reach throughout the country in the coming months. The establishment of Iftiin FM reflects Kenya's broader media landscape, which is considered diverse and sophisticated, with over 100 radio stations broadcasting in various local languages.
